Spring has sprung and we (or our landscape contractor) are beginning to clean up our yards and beds — something everyone benefits from greatly!
Here are a few important yard waste reminders:
Yard waste MUST BE PLACED in CLEARLY MARKED "YARD WASTE" CONTAINERS or in CRAFT PAPER YARD WASTE BAGS.
Items NOT PLACED OUT PROPERLY will NOT BE COLLECTED. YARD WASTE in PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
Please also remember to place your yard waste and other items to be collected at the curb the DAY BEFORE YOUR TRASH DAY ONLY! Bags left out too long can become wet and heavier for City employees to collect. Trash containers or yard waste put out days before collection are also unsightly for your neighbors.
Please also make your landscapers aware of these rules so they can plan your service accordingly.

All organic waste (yard waste) including grass, hedge clippings and garden plants must be placed in PAPER YARD WASTE BAGS or designated YARD WASTE CONTAINERS not closer than 3 feet to rubbish and recycling carts.
Yard waste bags are available at most retail outlets.
Yellow Yard Waste Only stickers are available at the Service Department Office.
Plastic bags filled with yard waste will not be accepted.
All yard waste will be taken to a compost facility to be recycled into organic soil supplements.
Leaves must be placed in paper yard waste bags.
The only time leaves are vacuumed from your tree lawn is in the Fall during leaf season. It is illegal to place leaves in the street.
Small tree trimmings 4 foot and under can be placed in paper yard waste bags or designated yard waste containers. If trimmings do not fit in paper yard waste bags or designated yard waste containers tree trimmings shorter than 4 feet should be bundled. Maximum bundle weight is 40 pounds.
Large branches over 4 feet long (maximum 6 inch diameter) should be stacked neatly, close to the road with all cut ends towards the road in the same direction for chipping.
Keep brush piles at least 4 feet from obstructions such as mailboxes, trees, telephone poles, etc. and all rubbish and recycling containers so as not to interfere with the mechanical arm on the collection trucks.
