POWER UPDATE 08/27/2023 10:00 AM

CEI currently has 29,000 customers out of power, down from a peak of 155,000 early yesterday. Although power has been restored to over 80% of impacted customers since Friday morning, please know that repair efforts are becoming more tedious as repairs are being made to equipment which benefit smaller number of customers.  Line crews continue to focus on repairs that will restore larger groups of customers and work down from there.

  •  IMPORTANT NOTE: A global estimate time of restoral for all customers has been Wednesday at 4 PM; however, many customers recently received an update (if they chose that option when reporting their outage) explaining their global estimated time of restoral is sooner than originally communicated. Customers may utilize FirstEnergy’s 24/7 Power Outage Map to view their local area’s global estimated time of restoral: FirstEnergy Storm Center OH (firstenergycorp.com)  The estimated restoration times represent when the majority of customers in an area are expected to have power restored. Many will have service restored prior to that time, based on the level of damage encountered in a particular area.
  • Please communicate generator safety information: When operating a generator, the power coming into the home should always be disconnected. Otherwise, power from the generator could be sent back onto power lines, creating a hazardous situation for workers. Never ever operate a generator in a home or garage:  View more generator safety tips.
  • Please share the attached “Who Owns What” as customers with damaged lines to their home may find value in knowing this information sooner than later
  • Thousands of personnel are working on this historic power restoration effort, and it is quite possible you may see contracted and other companies’ vehicles throughout your neighborhood
  • Hundreds of damaged locations require significant tree work to allow line crews access to make repairs. Note – tree debris will not be removed from these locations as this is the responsibility of the property owner
  • All crews are working 16 hour shifts with eight hours rest and will continue doing so until all power is restored
  • Customers who have experienced a service interruption due to the storm are encouraged to report their outage if they have not already done so by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), texting OUT to LIGHTS (544487) or clicking the "Report Outage" link on www.firstenergycorp.com/outages
