I am amazed at how quickly this year is passing. The "dog days" are upon us, our Home Day celebration is right around the corner and the children are beginning school. Time is fl ying so we must be having fun! We have enjoyed several opportunities to be together. Our summer concerts have seemed more fun, and National Night Out was a great success. Several wonderful block parties have been held and more are on the schedule. It is just great being with people — especially our neighbors in Lyndhurst!
A few of the many construction projects around town are wrapping up including work on Richmond Road's safety upgrades at the Mayfield Road intersection and concrete panel replacement is starting this week; work accomplished with support from the State of Ohio. Speaking of State and County support, we have completed the fi rst phase of our Lyndhurst Park Playground improvements for which we received County and State grant funding and we are most grateful for that support.
Our Spring Shred Event was huge! Thank you to our entire City Council and staff members who were there to assist our residents! Food donations collected that day totaled 1,150 pounds which shows the great generosity of our community! Our fall shred date is Saturday, October 23rd and donations of non-perishable food will be accepted as well.
On a more serious note, here's a thought, SLOW DOWN! We are experiencing more incidents of speeding drivers in all of our neighborhoods, far more than our enforcement efforts can keep up with. Be the change; when you drive our streets, especially our side streets, please be mindful of the 25 MPH speed limit and the STOP signs it just may inspire those behind you to do the same! The change in behavior starts with each of us.
I am looking forward to a wonderful Home Day weekend; you will see we have a fantastic entertainment line-up, terrific food options and a lot of fun planned! I hope to see you there!
