When the calendar page turned to 2021, I think I heard a sigh of relief; there is hope and the anticipation of some normalcy to come. Vaccine is fast becoming reality and there are daily positive developments in that regard. There is talk that our little community can start to actually commune again and we are planning accordingly.

The gut-punch delivered by the pandemic took our breath away, but we saw the generosity of our residents reach out, in ways great and small, to make a difference. Many factors have kept us operating; anchored by the efforts of our City employees who have come to work daily allowing us to deliver every needed service to our residents.

As I write we are making plans for summer concerts in the park and other community events that we can host safely. Our pool and spray park will be open, and we await Board of Health guidance on how those facilities should operate. There are details in this issue of Lyndhurst Life and the latest information can always be found on the City's website. The Home Day Committee is also working on plans for this year's awesome celebration so stay tuned for more information on that.

"Shop Local — Shop Lyndhurst" continues to be a Community focus as we look to support our area restaurants and retailers who contribute in so many ways to the health of our community. The City website now features a Local Business Directory where our stores, restaurants and home-based service providers can be listed with easy links to their online presence.

We have a wonderful array of musical artists scheduled for our three mid-month Wednesday Concerts in the Park — June 16th, July 21st and August 18th — and City Council has legislated that attendees may consume beer and wine at those three events. So, plan to bring your picnic dinner, enjoy your neighbors, music and a sip of your favorite beverage and we will provide the ice cream!

Plans have been made to hold our second State of the City address which will be virtual and broadcast on the City's Facebook page. This will follow the regular Council meeting on Monday, May 17th 2021. As always we are ready to serve you in any way possible. Stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see you soon!
