It's Fawning Season
Please Be Aware of Deer!

Original Release: 5/12/2020

A deer doe and fawn touch their heads together tenderly.

Please be aware that mother deer are extremely protective of their newborn fawns this time of year. Reports of deer aggression have become more and more common.

This morning, a resident's dog was attacked by a mother deer who saw the small pet as a threat to her baby fawns nearby.

Please be aware of deer in your yard and along your walks as they are very protective at this time of year.

Those who are walking their pets should be extra careful if they see deer tracking them as that could be a sign that there are fawns in the area and the doe may indeed charge the dog or even the owner.

Thank you!
