The "Season of Thanks" is nearly upon us and I would like to share with you some of the things about our community for which I am truly thankful.
I am so very grateful for your confidence in my leadership as I begin my second term as your Mayor and the confidence in our members of City Council who were also re-elected. I am thankful for our Directors and employees who are the spirit of every service we provide our residents every single day. We have adopted a team approach where everyone has a vital role in assuring we are doing the best we can as often as we can.
On September 13th we were hit by a micro-burst that caused significant damage across our City. The neighborliness and caring that was demonstrated by our residents and members of the business community was unprecedented and the assistance we received from some of our sister communities as we cleaned up after that storm was invaluable.
I am thankful for every opportunity we have to partner and collaborate with other cities or agencies in order to better serve our residents as these efforts elevate what we can do, the effectiveness of our services and broaden our ability to provide needed programs as economically as possible.
I am so thankful for our residents especially those who tell me what they think about our services or suggest how we can do better. We do welcome input and make every effort to look critically at how we operate. Certainly there are limitations to what we can do but that does not limit our thinking or our willingness to think critically about what services we provide you.
I am, of course, most thankful for my wife and family who are a big part of what I do. From my home and City Hall families our wish is that you find many things to be thankful for this Holiday Season. There is no greater gift one can give than to give of one's self — even if all you have is a kind word or a smile. God Bless each and every one of you.
