PickleBall Has Arrived in Lyndhurst!
Original Release: 9/4/2016
Pickleball, a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis has arrived in Lyndhurst!
When the City was contemplating renovation of the Brainard Park tennis courts it was suggested that the addition of Pickleball be considered.
Pickleball is a fast growing sport for young and old played on a court half the size of a tennis court. The courts at Brainard Park (1840 Brainard Road) are free to use when the park is open which is daylight hours only.
For those not familiar; two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications. Pickleball was invented in the mid-1960s as a children's backyard pastime but has become popular among adults as well!
