Description: Roses are often thought of as demanding and difficult to grow. Earth-Kind roses are designed to thrive with little help from their owners and without harmful chemicals. They are not treated with pesticides or chemical fertilizers and receive no protection during winter.
Pruning is limited to the removal of dead wood.
To date, 21 varieties have been recognized as Earth-Kind. Many classes of roses have earned the distinction, including hybrid teas, floribundas, and shrubs.
The principles of Earth-Kind Landscaping include water conservation, reduction of fertilizer and pesticide use, landscaping for energy conservation and reduction of landscape wastes entering landfills.
Come to learn more about Earth-Kind roses and gardening practices.
Our speaker, Carl Schroeck, is a member of the Cleveland Rose society.
New members and guests are always welcome.
