Original Release: 11/4/2015
The Hillcrest 100, Inc.What is The Hillcrest 100?
The Hillcrest 100 follows the proud tradition of other clubs across the United States. The concept of the 100 Club was born in Detroit in 1952. Following the fatal shooting of a young Detroit officer, William M. Packer, the owner of an automobile dealership wrote to 100 of his friends encouraging them to donate to a fund for the fallen officer. The response was 100%.
100 clubs have subsequently been established in many other states. The 100 Club of Arizona serves their entire state while the Houston 100 has over 20,000 members. Locally, the Shaker 100 and Beachwood 100 were formed in the 1960's and Solon and University Heights also have chapters.
