February 10, 2011: Civil Service Commission MINUTES: The Civil Service Commission of the City of Lyndhurst met in Regular Session on Thursday, February 10, 2011 in the Conference Room of the Lyndhurst Municipal Center, 5301 Mayfield Road. Mr. Raymond Schmidlin, presiding. Members Present: Commissioners: R. Schmidlin, Chairman; R D Patete, R Sweeney Others Present: Paul Murphy, Director of Law; Chief Carroll, Fire Chief; Chief Porrello, Police Chief; Clarice J White, Secretary It was moved by Mr. Patete, seconded by Mr. Schmidlin that the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 9, 2010, copies of which were mailed to all members, be dispensed with and said minutes stand approved as circulated. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Mr. Patete that the reading of the minutes of the Special Meeting held January 6, 2011, copies of which were mailed to all members, be dispensed with and said minutes stand approved as circulated. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. Correspondence from Mayor Cicero: "February 9, 2011 Lyndhurst Civil Service Commission 5301 Mayfield Road Lyndhurst OH 44124 Commissioners: This is to advise that the Lyndhurst Fire Department will have a position available for one firefighter. Therefore, I am hereby notifying you of the position to be filled and requesting that you certify to me the names and addresses of individuals from the original appointment Eligibility List for the Lyndhurst Fire Department. I would appreciate receiving the requested list as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation. Sincerely, Joseph M. Cicero, Jr. Mayor JMC:cjw c: Chief Carroll" Approve grades of written exam for firefighter It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Mr. Patete that the grades submitted for the recently administered examination for original appointment to the Fire Department be approved. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. Establish Eligibility List for Firefighter The Eligibility List for original appointment to the Fire Department was presented to the Commission for approval. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Ms. Sweeney that the Eligibility List for original appointment to the Fire Department be established as presented as of February 10, 2011. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. Certify names from the Police Eligibility List Commission members have previously reviewed the applications, background checks, voice stress tests and the law enforcement indexes conducted by Pradco for the seven candidates who have completed all portions of the process. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Mr. Patete that the following candidates be certified for the position of Patrolman: Timothy Eliopoulos (1) Gabriel Sleigh (5) Stephen Newcomer (10) Matthew Neath (11) Thomas McLaughlin (13) Robert Papp (17) Vito Silvestro (19) The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. Chief Carroll reminded the Commission that the written test for lieutenants and captains will be held February 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lyndhurst Community Center, and the assessment centers will be held March 3 and 4. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Mr. Patete that the meeting be adjourned. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried, meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m. |
